Japanese restaurant in Bay Ridge
It’s a very stylized Japanese restaurant, with lots of seating and very polite staff.
I’ve been going there since I was 5 years old, and overcame my disgust of fish as I went to Sapporo more and more frequently. My family usually orders food from there on New Year’s Eve, and the owner knows my parents on a first-name basis after over a decade of going there. I remember she always makes it a tradition to write a note and send a bottle of sake with the delivery man. I love their intricate bento boxes when dining there and how magnificent their sushi looks, and how great it tastes. It’s a place with a lot of happy memories and I’d love to go there again.
I would hate to see all the East Asian artifacts and decorations go. They made the place visually distinctive compared to many other restaurants that go for an all-black or red-yellow color palette. I remember seeing them put up when I was young, and they’re a visual reminder of how the place is culturally in-tune and has the highest quality sushi in Brooklyn.
I miss talking with the owner and watching the sushi chefs do their magic. It felt like magic to see the chefs prepare intricate sushi rolls that look just like thee photos and taste even better.
