An urban farm working closely with the Red Hook community
Red Hook farm is an urban farm that covers around three acres of land, across from Ikea. It grows organic fruit and vegetables. It is a serene and calm atmosphere where you instantly feel better by just looking at it.
Red Hook Farm has given the community many positive opportunities with three initiatives:
1. Growing a just food system: improving the community’s access to healthy affordable food and creating local economic growth and jobs.
2. Youth empowerment: allowing teens to positively engage with the community and giving them leadership and agriculture skills.
3. Farm Based Learning: The elementary schools in the neighborhood participate in weekly lessons that branch out into different concepts. Fields trips are also done for schools around New York City.
