Brooklyns only community college
Kingsborough is the only community college in Brooklyn and is consistently ranked as one of the best in New York. It has the highest graduation rate and offers over 28 different associates degrees as well as sports ranging from baseball to volleyball. There are also field programs such as mental health, early childhood education and tourism, to name a few. KBCC also offers the My Turn initiative, where Brooklyn residents over the age of 60 can enjoy courses free of tuition. Special bilingual studies programs and a large GED program are also available. It is involved with Brooklyns local community, providing events such as concerts, lectures and films.
KBCC has a private beach, three different views of the water from campus, two gyms and an outdoor pool. There is the Leon M. Goldstein Performing Arts Center, a beautiful art gallery, a 12, 000 square foot conference center, a library, multiple computer labs as well as a marina and aquarium. If the aquarium and marina were to go away, I would miss them. I love fish, and it is great to be able to just sit and watch the different kinds swim around. It is a peaceful sight. (October 2012).
