Suburban style historic neighborhood
Forgotten NY profile of Richmond Hill "Queens Victorian"
Richmond Hill Historical Society
North Richmond Hill is a wealth of Victorian-era architecture with tree-lined streets, near the southeastern corner of Forest Park, representing the movement of the middle class to the rail-oriented suburbs prior to the advent of the automobile. The vernacular architecture is rich in Victorian detailing and form, swimming in a sea of trees, all in the shadows of Forest Park. Nineteenth century reformer Jacob Riis lived here and Teddy Roosevelt visited.
