Established in 1975, it is the largest member-run food co-op in the USA. All members must work and in general, it works very well. Recently, it underwent an expansion into an adjoining former carriage house. The Co-op is very aware of its development and its past. Articles in the bi-weekly newsletter often describe past events and how decisions were made.
