Kleinfeld was nominated to Place Matters through a wonderful collaboration with Dr. Marta Gutman’s Gender and Architecture spring 2013 course at the City College of New York’s Spitzer School of Architecture. This semester, the term project for the seminar was to nominate a place to our Census that tied into a theme of the class. The students' nomination campaign included sites whose historical or contemporary narratives relate to women, gender and sexuality. The students’ research has added a significant dimension to the Census, and we look forward to highlighting some of their articles with the hope that others will be inspired to nominate similarly significant sites.
Since 1847, The City College of New York has provided low-cost, high-quality education for New Yorkers in a wide variety of disciplines. More than 16,000 students pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in: the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture; the School of Education; the Grove School of Engineering, the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, and the Colin L. Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership.
